He sighs, fighting to hold Dante at arm's length. This leaves a clear ripple in the air around his wrist, where his hand appears to be cut off.

"You ate before your nap...but fine, Vergil and I were just talking about dinner anyway."

"I'm a strong boy. I need to eat a lot. Preferably pizza."

Vergil interjects at this point, because he is not settling for pizza. "Hardly! He'll cook something better and you'll like it!"

Dante just makes a whining noise.

"I only had to smell all that junk you called pizza, and I'm still sick of it! I'm making real food."

He shoots a stern look at the portal, though he knows all Dante can see of him is a disembodied hand.

"If the both of you are ready to go, I can take us back to Capulet City."

[wholelyconsumed]

"We're ready," Vergil says, interrupting whatever Dante was starting to say. All his twin manages to get out is a start of a further protestation. He's not going to let him gain ground on the pizza front. He won't!

"Come on, I'll make another portal once we're all in the same place."

And with that, he steps through the portal, causing it to be outlined by the ripple in the air. If Dante isn't careful, Alastor will also end up putting him in a headlock and covering his mouth.

"And then I'll look into where I can get ingredients for a good dinner, since I doubt you have anything but stale potato chips and beer in your kitchen."

"I'm definitely looking forward to that beer!"

Vergil steps through the portal as well, deciding to trust it since both Alastor and Dante crossed it alright. He gives Dante a stern look.

"I hate you when you're drunk."

Not 'it', you. Dante looks stricken.

"Be glad I made him sleep off that vodka he found. He was a mess."

Crossing the portal is almost like walking through a doorway, only one you can't see the other side of until you're there. He remembered to put it at ground level, so the worst Vergil might experience is a moment of disorientation from the sudden change in environment.

"I believe it."

Dante, meanwhile, opens his mouth to protest and then closes it. He doesn't want to mention any of what happened while he was drunk in front of his brother. Especially not the part where he hit on Alastor. He knows Vergil would not approve.

Vergil is used to crossing rips in space from Yamato, so he doesn't get disoriented from this. "Do you need help shopping."

"Not necessarily need, but I'd appreciate it. I can look...mostly human, but it's not exactly comfortable."

He always feels tense without his wings and tail. He's not quite sure how to describe it to people who gain limbs from their default, rather than lose them.

Instead of trying, he just turns his attention to the portal. He lets the old one go, but no sooner than the fabric of space settle back to normal, does he pull at it again to create a doorway into the lobby of Devil May Cry. He lets go of Dante at that point, but gives him a slight nudge toward the portal.

"Alright, doofuses first."

Vergil snorts again, while Dante allows himself to be nudged through. That causes Vergil to raise his eyebrows, as Dante never allows anyone to make him do anything.

"Are you a miracle worker?" he asks of Alastor.

"I might have been called one, back when I was taking offerings in exchange for guaranteeing favorable weather."

It's said with a grin and a timely gust of wind. To humans, after all, a steady rain to break a dangerous drought very much was a miracle.

"But mostly, I know how to deal with his type. Plus, he owes me for all the time I spent gathering dust in a closet."

"!!" This makes Dante dash back through the portal again, covering Alastor's mouth with a hand. "Haha, he doesn't know what he's talking about!"

Vergil just glares.

"Let him talk."

"..."

Dante lowers his hand.

"That 'disagreement' I mentioned? Dante hasn't taken me out of storage since he got back from Mallet."

He grabs Dante's arm and shoves him back toward the portal.

"But he's apologized and promised not to take me for granted anymore, so I'm giving him a second chance."

Dante resists the shove, wanting to see how this plays out. But of course, at the same time, he wants to run like hell. The look on Vergil's face doesn't help that.

"You're never to do that again," Vergil instructs him, his voice low and cool.

"..."

"Do you understand me?"

"...okay."

Dante's voice is meek.

"Yeah, I already made that clear. But as long as he behaves..." This shove is more gentle, almost playful. "I'm willing to stick by him. We're in the same boat, after all...demons who aren't welcome in the underworld."

"Hey, if you shove me like that, people are gonna think you have a thing for me."

After saying that, Dante takes one look at Vergil's disapproving face and flees through the portal.

"As if, idiot!" He grabs a piece of broken concrete off the ground and chucks it at Dante's head, through the portal. Then he sighs and looks at Vergil. "Go ahead, I'm gonna close it after myself."

Vergil nods, but before he goes - "I can kick his ass." Although from the yelp Dante made from the other side of the portal, the concrete block did strike. Maybe his ass was already kicked?

...probably not, he was too stupid to get seriously hurt.

"Already did that earlier today. Not that grinding his face into the pavement does much...sometimes I wonder if there's even anything in that skull of his to damage."

If there is, he certainly doesn't use it.

"At least someone else understands this about him."

Dante makes a whining noise from the other side of the portal. "Are you guys gonna stand around bashing me or come on over?"

"Not sure, I could go all day."

He smirks, and his tail twitches with amusement.

"Like I said, go on. I'll head through last."

Vergil heads on through, and... immediately shoves Dante the second he gets through.

"Hey!" Dante protests, and shoves right back.

Alastor steps through after Vergil, and simply allows the portal to collapse behind him. He glances around, sniffs, then rubs his nose.

"I see you haven't been doing any better at keeping this place cleaned up since I left."

"It's a lost cause," Vergil says, before Dante can say anything in defense of himself. But he's still standing there with his mouth open, so Vergil gives him a stern stare.

"You do know I'm correct."

It's a shame the biankies can't exist in the real world. They'd have this place sparkling within a day...though they might need to add some holy water and sage to their mop buckets.

"Hopefully the kitchen's just dusty from disuse and not...ugh."

Hm, but if he's going to be in the real world for a while...he should change clothes. His outfit briefly glows purple and shifts, sparking with violet electricity, into something more normal than his supervillain getup.

"Gimme a sec and I'll write a grocery list. Dante, is there any blank paper in that desk of yours?"
