She might have. I'd already almost killed him once before.

Not entirely sure who would've won if we'd kept going, but it would've been ugly either way.

Not sure he knows how. [A snort.] I humiliated him the first time we met, and made him push his limits at the time just to avoid getting turned into hero on a stick, but he acted like I was a friend the next time he saw me.

More than kind of. He's got sharp instincts, though. The kind of person who doesn't really need to think, because intuition usually steers him right.

He can be, though he can also be a headache. Just about wanted to throttle him that time we worked together to cheer up a sick kid.

Well...it did work out in the end, if only thanks to my idea. Kid seemed pretty happy when I left.

I am, yeah...and I have had the thought before. Never really seemed feasible, though. The underworld...wasn't exactly well suited to starting an actual family.

Yeah, but you don't live in the underworld anymore.

All things considered...I think I'd be a bit nervous raising a fully human kid. I'd feel like one of us had to be able to keep an eye on them all the time, just in case...y'know.

[Demonic killers wouldn't be above threatening a kid to get at a more powerful enemy.]

...Main problem is, a cambion born of a demon would favor their demonic side, even if their heritage was perfectly even.

Like how? Personality, instincts?

It's not necessarily a problem, is it?

Instincts maybe, but that's not the main issue. I'm worried how a kid with wings or horns would get by until they learned how to hide those things.

[And if they heavily favored his demonic appearance, possibly even hooves.]

I think a lot of people would realize it's just a kid.

I'd hope, anyway.
