[He moves the phone away from his face and shoots a glance back toward the bathroom.]

Didn't I ask for some privacy?

Whoops. [ Dante sounds a little apologetic, at least. ] We'll go to another room.

[ Nero grabs Dante's wrist, just to make sure of it, and drags him to the living room. ]

[He sighs, then goes back to his call. A few minutes later, he walks into the living room himself, pocketing his phone as he goes.]

Well, sounds like everyone's doing alright.

[ Nero has the box open at this point, showing off the ring. Dante looks pretty impressed, and they both look up when Alastor comes in. ]

Great! So when do I get to meet them?

Gonna be getting a call tomorrow to set up a meeting with Captain Blue. He's got...well, let's call it a casting offer for me. Wouldn't be surprised if Joe turns up, too.

More movies?

[ Now Nero looks immensely interested. ]

Yeah, he wants to set up a new movie based on Captain Blue Jr. taking over Viewtiful Joe's role as the world's greatest defender. And, um...

[The next part is mumbled, impossible to make out.]

We can't hear you.

[ Dante can tell it's embarrassing, so if course he's going to push. ]

He wants me to... [Mumble mumble]

Don't be embarrassed. It's just us.

He wants me to be part of the kid's team, alright?!

[He is absolutely embarrassed. He only recently accepted he feels compassion in the first place, and now he's being recruited for a superhero squad?]

[ Nero can't help but look excited at that. ] That's great! What a cool story move!

[ Dante just looks puzzled, as he doesn't get why it's embarrassing. ]

I guess...I know I am popular with the fans, just...look, if someone had suggested this before this week, I'd have told them they were crazy. I've never really thought of myself as hero material.

That time with the kid was special circumstances! And I owed the woman in that time loop town a debt.

You're changing. [ Dante gets up and heads over to Alastor, putting a hand on his shoulder and squeezing it. ] Accepting new parts of yourself and becoming open to them. That's making you evolve.

I guess, it's just...a big decision to make. Especially since when I'm in Movieland, it's not just a role on a screen. In there, it's all as good as real.

[brokenfuse]

What is Movieland, anyway? [ Nero finally dares to ask, even though he's sure he'll look dumb by doing so. ] I don't really understand.

[superstylishsquid]

It's a world on the other side of the movie screen, where the settings and characters of every movie that's ever been in theaters exist. Normally the settings are separated, but some wannabe demon overlord scrambled things up recently.

But Captain Blue? Blue Jr.? Rachel? They're all actual people, just in another dimension. Well...actually, it's complicated in Captain Blue's case. I think he was originally a Movieland native, but then the actor got stuck in Movieland himself, and merged with the character? I'm not entirely sure on the details, pretty sure it happened before I went poking around there myself.

[ Nero slaps his forehead. ]

My head hurts.

[ Dante just laughs. ]

Yeah, it can be like that when you first try to wrap your mind around it. I can show you the place, if it'd help. Crossing back and forth is a bit tricky, but I've got it solidly figured out.

I think I've had enough crossing over for one day. Next time?

[ Nero already entered one realm, can he really handle another? ]

I want to see it.

Got plans for later today, so...how about tomorrow, after I'm done with my call?

[ Dante raises his hand. ]

Am I gonna have to cross to Movieland to meet them?

[ That's gonna be a trip. In the meantime, Nero looks cheery about the suggestion of time. ]

I'll be here awhile, so that works great.

Normally, the answer would've been yes, but...that demon who scrambled things? Did so badly enough that it managed to make Movieland bleed into the real world, and then Joe somehow broke the barrier down even worse? So Movieland natives with access to a portal can exist in the real world now.

[ Dante understands that whole explanation perfectly, but Nero just looks like his head hurts more. ]

I still want to see it eventually. [ Dante thinks the place sounds fun! ]

Well, I don't think it's going anywhere as long as movie theaters still exist. Maybe even after that, who knows how it'll react to the shift to home viewing.
